Breadcraft Runners Up in 2019 Sustainable Business Network Awards

Last week we were runners up in the 2019 Sustainable Business Network Awards with our brand Rebel Bakehouse, recognising our work in Transforming Food. In less than a year we’ve not only launched our range of Rebel wraps that are good for you and good for the planet, we’ve also successfully farmed crickets, sourced local hemp and wheat from right here in the mighty Wairarapa. Congratulations to Chia Sisters who won in the Transforming Food Category, it’s great to be working alongside other Kiwi companies who are also doing their bit to be more sustainable and reduce their eco-footprint.

Breadcraft Pledges Living Wage

From 2020 we’re a living wage accredited company. In New Zealand, the Living Wage rate is voluntary and for 2019 was calculated to be $21.15 per hour, $3.45 more than the minimum wage set by the Government. And we’re introducing a scheme that means Employees would also be to receive even more, depending on skills and qualifications.

Rebel Bakehouse Moving to 100% Kiwi Flour

Rebel Bakehouse and Breadcraft Wairarapa will use 100% Kiwi flour by the end of the year, the first bakery of its size in New Zealand to do so. Rebel Bakehouse is a brand of Breadcraft Wairarapa, a family-owned business which has been making bread for more than 75 years, supplying both national and international companies.
